Social Networking: Twitter for Business
This is a class for beginners!
Twitter is a free micro-blogging tool that allows people to connect to each other over the internet. What would you write? Twitter asks you to answer the question, “What is happening?” These little messages are called tweets and they are only 140 characters long. Why so few characters? The decision to limit it to 140 characters was based on a study of 100 years of date from telegrams!
Since its beginning in 2006, Twitter has grown to become the third most used social networking site, hosting over 6 million unique visitors per month. This class is designed for people who have never started a Twitter account, but want to jump in. Participants are asked to bring in the password to their web-based email account (Comcast, Road runner, or G mail)
or we will help them set up a Gmail account. We will review in a hands-on way, 4
key points:
1. Decide Why and How You Want to Use It - use it to build up your network in a niche.
2. Start Tweeting- learn how to set up a useful schedule to maintain your network contacts.
3. Start Following Others – to build your network.
4. Get Interactive – reach out to others and get a conversation going.
Soon you will find conversations can become quite natural, as you learn more about others, and what interests them. The bonus is that the exchanges are public – and the interest generated can drive brand awareness for your business.

Social Networking: Facebook for Business
With the amount of existing and new applications that are being created on Facebook-100 million installs across 3,400 applications- business owners will find it has untapped potential to promote their brand!
Whether used for Branding, Customer Engagement, or Reputation Management, Facebook is popular across various age demographics and can create a meeting point for building your relationship with your consumers and prospects. Facebook can act as a portal point for driving traffic to your site and other online properties. In addition, your Facebook profile can be indexed in the search results and as a result can provide another favorable listing in the organic search results of the engines. This class is for beginners.
Access to the social world. You never know who is using Facebook. A potential prospect can do research on your brand or organization and may use Facebook to see if you have a presence there. Then they see that you have a Facebook profile and see a number of positive posts about your brand. This in turn can shape their sphere of influence and could end up being one of many deciding factors as to why a prospect selects you over another vendor.
Feedback Mechanism. Using Facebook and its applications can help you understand consumer behavior based on the sharing of content and commentary on the social networking site.
There is benefit for organizations who use Facebook. Perhaps it is not the first tool people would think of using to promote their brand, but they should be aware of awareness of its benefits.
